When was Outback Chair Company founded?
We started the company in 1997, making indoor and outdoor hanging furniture - hammock chairs, hammocks, and indoor and outdoor lounge chairs. (Almost ten years ago, although it seems like yesterday.)

Where is Outback Chair headquartered?
We are based in San Diego, where we have our corporate headquarters and West Coast distribution facility. Our East Coast distribution center is in Atlanta, GA.

Who are the company's key executives?
Jack Bass, President and Danielle Abel, Vice President.

What is "hanging" furniture?
It's not in Webster's, but we define it as furniture that is suspended above the ground from one secure point for chairs, recliners and hanging lounge chairs and from two secure points for hammocks. The emotional definition? Outback Chair's indoor and outdoor hanging furniture has the "attitude of latitude" and thereby raises relaxation to a whole new level.

What do hanging chairs offer that's different from a hammock?
Hanging chairs, recliners and hanging chairs are suspended from just one point, and therefore take up less space. This makes them perfect for balconies. Additionally, you sit back in a hanging chair rather than lie down as you do in a hammock. Lots of folks find hanging chairs, recliners, and hanging lounge chairs more relaxing and comfortable, especially for reading and enjoying a favorite summertime beverage. Of course, it's pretty easy to visualize yourself catching a couple of Zs in an outdoor hanging lounge chair!

How extensive is Outback Chair's line of indoor and outdoor hanging furniture?
Quite extensive, including hanging chairs, recliners, hanging lounge chairs, hanging hammock chairs, hammocks, accessories, and frames.

Is hanging furniture from Outback Chair just for outdoor use?
Outback's hanging furniture rises above the ordinary out back on the deck or patio, by the pool, or in the garden. Our range of indoor and outdoor hanging furniture is well-suited for outdoor and indoor transitional areas, such as three-season porches, sunrooms, solariums and conservatories. And, many homeowners enjoy hanging our hanging chairs, recliners and hanging lounge chairs indoors in family rooms. Teenagers also like to hang out in our hanging chairs in their bedrooms and dorms.

Can hanging chairs, hammock chairs, loungers and recliners from Outback Chair be used on boats?
Well, are we talking yacht, houseboat or rowboat? Jokes aside, the short answer is yes. But, of course, it depends on the boat's size and construction. Indeed, there's something to be said for hanging out on the deck of your yacht in a luxurious outdoor hanging lounge chair from Outback Chair. Back to the short answer: Out hanging furniture can be enjoyed anywhere where proper support is available. Sorry, we cannot supply the yacht.

Are all parts and accessories included with Outback hammocks, hammock chairs and hanging chairs? What accessories are available?
All Outback Chair hanging chairs, hammock chairs, lounge chairs, and hammocks come complete with necessary hanging hardware, including an eye lag screw, a hook, and a chair. Basic hardware is listed for each product on the product's web page. Consumer may wish to purchase additional springs, swivels, pillows or reversible pads. For instance, reversible pads may be used with our rope hammocks, converting them into luxurious outdoor beds. Optional frames are also available, which makes it easy to position a hammock, hammock chair, recliner or lounge chair outdoors or indoors in locations where there are no suspension points.

Are your hanging chairs, hammock chairs and hammocks easy to clean?
Of course. Our hanging chairs, hammock chairs and hammocks can be cleaned by using a soft brush or cloth and warm soapy water. Hang them our to dry or dry them on a flat surface. But, please, no chemical bleaches. Washing machines and tumble dryers are also a no-no.

What's the difference between a classic cotton hammock versus one made of polyester, olefin, polycord or acrylic?
The most comfortable hammocks are generally made of cotton. The synthetic materials do offer greater durability and stain resistance.

How long do hanging chairs, hammock chairs and hammocks last outdoors?
It depends where you locate them. A variety of care and environmental factors affect the life of a hanging lounge chair, hammock chair or hammock, and that makes it difficult to say just how long they will last. Sun, salt and the severity of seasonal changes all make a difference. The type of fabric also plays a role. For example, our Basket Weave Loungers and Quilted Fabric Hammocks are made of UV-treated, waterproof 600 x 600 denier polyester fabric. Our Poly Cord Rope Chair and Hammock are made from all-weather poly cord rope. These synthetic fabrics stand the test of time and extend the life of our hanging hammock furniture. That said; given proper care and appropriate use, all our indoor and outdoor furniture will provide enjoyment for many years of stress-free relaxation.

Will salt water damage Outback hammocks and hanging hammock chairs?
Yes. After all, salt water damages just about anything. To increase longevity, keep Outback Chair hanging furniture dry and store it indoors when not in use. Commercially available fabric protectors can also help. Follow the instructions carefully.

Lots of manufacturers offer hanging chairs. What makes Outback Chair's products different?
Our indoor and outdoor hanging furniture is real furniture. From the careful selection of first-rate raw materials through meticulous manufacturing and final finishing processes, Outback Chair Company crafts real furniture that offers real value. Outback Chair Company also offers the most extensive range of hanging furniture on the market, with many new styles launched every season.
